 Royal Challengers Bangalore players 2023

The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore came into the IPL 2023 auction with a solid squad, having retained their core players in the draft earlier in the year. They released only five players, which was the fewest among all franchises, prior to the auction held in Kochi on December 23.

Despite having a loyal fan base in cricket, RCB went into the auction with a budget of 8.75 crores, while other franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians made headlines with their big-ticket purchases of Ben Stokes and Cameron Green, respectively. RCB remained relatively quiet during the initial stages of the auction.

However, the Men in Red made their first significant purchase of the auction by securing the signature of the towering English pacer Reece Topley for a modest 1.90 crores. Topley's impressive return to the limited-overs format for England in 2022 suggests he will be an excellent addition to the already star-studded bowling unit, which includes the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood.

Another notable signing by RCB in the IPL 2023 auction was the talented English all-rounder Will Jacks. The 24-year-old, who is a proficient batsman and a handy bowler, was bought for 3.20 crores. The side trusts Jacks to fill the gap left by the injured Glenn Maxwell. RCB also attempted to sign the experienced IPL campaigner Manish Pandey but were outbid by Delhi Capitals, who successfully completed

Michael Bracewell replaces injured Will Jacks in RCB squad for IPL 2023

Michael Bracewell has been selected as a replacement for the injured Will Jacks in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, according to an official release from the IPL. Jacks, who recently made his debut for England in all three formats, expressed disappointment at missing out on the opportunity to participate in the IPL, which could have provided him with a chance to impress the England selectors ahead of the ODI World Cup, set to be held in India later this year.

However, Bracewell's selection gives him a chance to shine, having gone unsold earlier in the auction. The left-hander has played 16 T20Is, scoring 113 runs and taking 21 wickets. He will be joining RCB at his base price of INR 1 Crore. Bracewell made his name after smashing a stunning century in Hyderabad against India.

RCB is set to begin their IPL 2023 campaign on April 2 against the Mumbai Indians at their home ground, Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This will be their first match at their home ground since May 2019.
